Persistent Links

Learn how to create persistent links to articles in BGSU library databases that will work from on or off campus.

Databases where URL is the Persistent Link

  • EBSCO
  • Naxos Music Library
  • Project Muse
  • Oxford Music Online
  • ProQuest (Includes Global Newsstream, Vogue, New York Times Historical)
  • PubMed Central

For these databases, just copy the URL in the address bar as it is a permanent link

JSTOR Remote access URLs

"In addition to a stable URL, journal articles and select image content on JSTOR will also display a remote access URL when you're logged in through your institution via proxy, SAML, or Google or Microsoft single sign-on (SSO). See How to tell if you are logged in to JSTOR.

Remote access URLs are a good choice for sharing with other members of your institution (for example, in course content). You can find an item's remote access URL on the item page in the Item details or Abstract and details section (for journal articles)." (JSTOR)

Not sure if the URL in the browser bar is persistent or not?

1. Look in the database record for a link or icon that indicates it's a permanent link.  It might mention permalink or persistent URL or something like 'Get a Link'.

2. Test the URL.   Copy the URL in the address bar, paste it into another browser and see if it takes you to the correct article.  If it does, it is probably a permanent link.
