45s at MLBSSA: Find 45s at the Music Library

Intro

The Music Library has roughly 200,000 7-inch 45s. We also have 12-inch 45s, which were produced in the 1970s and 80s. The Music Library has roughly 3,000 12-inch 45s, with another 1,300 to be cataloged. You can search and browse the 45s by using the search strategies listed below. Please note that "uncat" denotes a brief catalog record (not "uncataloged").

Search by record label

‚Äč1. Go to the Library Catalog and click on the Numbers tab to do a call number search.

2. In the "Call Number Type" drop-down, select "Local" (for "local call number"), then type the following in the search box:

uncat 7/45 [type in the name of the record label]

 

Search by song

1. Go to the Library Catalog and do a Keyword Search

2. Type the following in the search box:

"[type your song title here]" uncat 7/45 

*be sure to include quotes around the song title

 

Search by artist

1. Go to the Library Catalog and do a Keyword Search

2. Type the following in the search box:

"[artist's last name, first name]" uncat 7/45 

"[full name of band]" uncat 7/45

*be sure to include quotes around the name of the artist

Search the 12-inch 45s

The 12-inch 45s can be searched using the strategies described above, replacing "uncat 7/45" with "12/45 disc".
