Create a Two-Way Conversation with Students

The instructor proactively meets with their students regularly in synchronous (real time/live) and asynchronous (over time) forums. This creates students' sense of connection with the instructor, increases the instructor's presence within the class, and builds a trusting relationship among instructor and students.

WebEx Polling
(Information shared by Kim Fleshman, Collab Lab, BGSU University Libraries) Seven pages of illustrated instructions for using WebEx Polling, which allows instructors to ask students a question(s) within WebEx. Polling could be used in an online course for taking attendance, giving a quiz, or quickly assessing students' understanding on a certain topic or point. The poll is saved as a text file. You can see how individuals answered questions, so that is something to consider if sharing the results.

Poll Everywhere
Capture feedback during classes using words and/or pictures for voting. Can be downloaded to use with PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote or create a log in to use it online. Click on MyPolls, then the blue button that says "Create" in the upper left hand corner.Select question types such as: multiple choice, word cloud, Q & A, clickable image, survey, open-ended, competitions, and more. You can then take a screenshot of responses or export the response history. Instructions are available at the site. The free version allows 25 people to respond, but there are paid options available.
