WRIT 1110: Seminar in Academic Writing: Publisher

The resources listed on this page will help you to become familiar with your University Libraries at BGSU. If you have questions about the Library, feel free to speak with a librarian in person at the Research and Information Desk.

Ask yourself the following

  • Do you recognize the name of the publisher?

Search Tips

There are thousands of publishers, and it is impossible to know the reputations of all of them. In general, if the publisher is a university press, such as Oxford University Press, the source is scholarly. Other publishers have excellent reputations and are well known in certain disciplines.

To find more information about a particular publisher, do a Google search using the publisher name in quotation marks. For example, "Neal-Schuman Publishers." Hint: Sometimes journal articles are published by professional organizations such as the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Give it a Try
