Kevin Noble Maillard, author of Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story, is a Professor of Law at Syracuse University and a contributor to the New York Times. Noble Maillard is an enrolled member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Currently, he is based in Manhattan, NY.

Juana Martinez-Neal

Juana Martinez-Neal is a New York Times bestselling illustrator recipient of the 2020 Robert F. Sibert Medal for Fry Bread: A Native American Story. Daughter and granddaughter of artists, she was born in Lima, the capital of Peru, and now lives in the woods of southeastern Connecticut, with her husband, three children and two dogs.
