Individual Research Appointments (IRAs) for Undergraduates
Your first major research paper can be a little overwhelming. What are scholarly sources? What does your instructor mean by "peer-reviewed"? What if you can't find enough sources to meet the requirements? Where are you even supposed to look for this stuff?
Fear not! The library offers free Individual Research Appointments (IRAs), during which you meet one-on-one with a librarian to learn how to do research at the college level. We'll introduce you to the resources you need and help you find good, solid sources for your paper. Personalized help is only a phone call (or click) away!
For in-depth individualized assistance, or for a general orientation or introduction to our services, undergraduates can take advantage of one-hour consultations with a librarian. These are offered on a first-come, first-served basis during peak research times of the semester. Watch the BGSU Libraries homepage for announcements about the dates for the IRAs.
Individual Research Appointments (IRAs) for Faculty and Graduate Students
Looking for help with a tricky research topic? Need an introduction to library resources that are relevant to you, or just a quick refresher? Your liaison can make it happen! If you are new to campus or simply want to brush up on BGSU's library resources, schedule an appointment with the Library Instruction Liaison assigned to work with your department. Our librarians are able to tailor individual consultations to meet your specific needs--reviewing a familiar database with a new interface, introducing new electronic resources in your discipline, or previewing an assignment you're preparing for class. These consultations can take place in the library, but if it's more convenient for you or your department, the librarian can come to your office or department's conference room.
