Coming in June, Rio+20

With a goal of advancing sustainable development around the world, Rio de Janeiro will host the 20th annual United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil from June 20-22.  Seven critical global issues will be addressed at Rio+20:  jobs, energy, cities, food, water, oceans, and disasters.  The Rio+20 conference brochure prrovides more information about the Conference.

P3 represents People, Prosperity and the Planet. This EPA national competition is focused on benefiting people, promoting prosperity, and protecting the planet through innovative designs to address challenges to sustainability in both the developed and developing world.

NACUFS Green Champion Student Award

As a student, have you demonstrated leadership in the promotion and implementation of sustainable dining on campus?

If so, you may be eligible for this student award from NACUFS (it includes a $1000 cash award).  This year's deadline for entries was January 15, 2012.  Are you wondering if the deadline for this award wil remain the same in 2013?  For more information go to the NACUFS Sustainability Awards.

This LibGuide is an introduction to the topic of Sustainability for BGSU students.

BGSU residence hall students conserve energy! Participating in the Campus Conservation National contest, BGSU was the overall national winner of the contest to reduce energy use in residence halls (more than 100 schools participated).  For more information see the June 4th, 2012 issue of ZoomNews.

On the BGSU campus, sustainability progress can be seen at: the Student Green Initiative Fund, or the Greening the Campus webpage, or the Friday Night Lights program.

On October 27, 2011 BGSU hosted the conference, Sustainable U: Perspectives on Sustainability in Higher Education and Beyond in Northwest Ohio.  

October 20th, 2010 was the eighth Campus Sustainability Day.  The theme for 2010 was, "Is Your Campus Sustainable? How do you know?"
