Distance Education: Article Delivery

Library resources for students taking online courses

Article Delivery

Do you need an article from a journal that the BGSU libraries only has in paper? Can't come to campus and get it?

We can get that for you!

Article Delivery:  The University Libraries offers an article delivery service for Faculty and Distance Education students. If BGSU owns the journal in print, you can request it via Interlibrary Loan and have it delivered electronically to your desktop.

  • If the article is not available in full text online, enter the citation via interlibrary loan using Interlibrary Loan (ILL) (visit the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) FAQ page for more information about Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and to learn how to create an account for first time users).

Please note: Distance students should add the words "distance education student" in the note field of each Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request.

If BGSU owns the print copy, you will receive a copy of the article electronically. Items not owned by BGSU will be requested via the regular interlibrary loan process which may take up to two weeks.

Turn Around Times For Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Requests

  • Articles From BGSU: 1 Business Day
  • Articles From Other Institutions: Approximately 2 Weeks.

For more information, contact ill@bgsu.edu or call Interlibrary Loan at 419-372-8726.

What if the library doesn't have my article?

Interlibrary loan is the system we use to get research material we don't own.

How does it work? First set up an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account, and then fill out the request form for each article you want, from inside your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account. When a copy is received, you will get an email from the interlibrary loan office prompting you to log in to your account and download your articles. Don't wait too long to do this; the articles will be removed in 2 weeks from your account.
