The Library of Congress

The Library's mission is to make its resources available and useful to the Congress and the American people and to sustain and preserve a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations.

Smithsonian Institution

The Smithsonian Institution was established in 1846 with funds bequeathed to the United States by James Smithson. The Institution is as an independent trust instrumentality of the United States holding more than 140 million artifacts and specimens in its trust for "the increase and diffusion of knowledge". The Institution is also a center for research dedicated to public education, national service, and scholarship in the arts, sciences, and history.

National Archives and Record Administration

National ArchiveThe National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the Federal agency called the collective memory of America. It preserves our nation's history by managing all Federal records. Further, it seeks to ensure access to historic records which document citizens' rights and our national experience.

National Endowment for the Humanities

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, and public programs in the humanities.

National Endowment for the Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is an independent agency of the U.S. government that supports the creation, dissemination, and performance of the arts. Literature, music, theatre, film, dance, fine arts, sculpture, and crafts projects are among those funded by the NEA.
