All About ARTstor: Home

This guide will show users how to perform basic functions in the ARTstor database.

What is in ARTstor?

ARTstor is home to 1.3 million images from the arts, humanities, social sciences, and architecture.

There are more than 60 image collections to browse including collections from:

  • The Museum of Modern Art
  • The Art Institute of Chicago
  • The Cleveland Museum of Art
  • The American Insitute of Indian Studies
  • The Detroit Institute of Art
  • And many more!

Use the dropdown menu under "Browse" to view collections acquired by ARTstor or "Public Collections," which are collections uploaded and shared by other institutions.

You can also browse Image Groups created by BGSU users (sometimes by faculty for specific classes), as well as by ARTstor (on different topics). Go to "Browse," then choose "Groups." On the next page, choose "Institutional" for BGSU groups.
