Qualtrics - Survey Tool : Creating a Survey

Qualtrics is a web-based survey tool that allows users to build surveys, send surveys and analyze responses in a very simple way.

To Create a Survey

Login to Qualtrics and click on one of the following options:

  1. “Create Survey” tab
  2. “Create Survey” icon - Click here, if you are acessing your account for the first time.
  3. On the next screen, select one of the following options: Quick Survey Builder, Create from Copy, or Survey Library.

Build your survey- you have 3 options:

  1. Quick Survey Builder – This is recommended for beginners.
  2. Create from Copy – This is used when you would like to copy a survey that is already in “My Account”.
  3. Survey Library – This is used when you need a template of some kind. There are multiple survey libraries: The Qualtrics library has templates for many different types of surveys. You may also have a library with survey templates related to your brand.

Quick Survey Builder - fastest way to start editing your survey!:

  1. Give your survey a title

    • You can always rename the survey later

  2. Type in a folder name for your survey (optional)

  3. Select the account where you would like the survey to be created. The default option is “My Account.”

  4. Finish by clicking Create Survey

Create a Survey from Copy- allows you to re-use any existing surveys in your account

This options allows you to create a new survey based upon an existing survey within your "My Surveys" personal account:

  1. Select CREATE from Copy and choose the survey you would like to copy

  2. Specify a new name, and the folder it belongs (optional)

  3. Finish by clicking Create From Copy

Survey Library - allows you to copy a survey from a library database and use it as a template

Choose the library from which you would like to pull the survey. Select  My Library if you would like to choose from your own surveys, or select the Global Library for any Qualtrics surveys.

  1. Specify a category, then the specific survey you would like to copy

  2. Specify a new name, the folder it belongs and the account the survey will be copied to

  3. Finish by clicking Create Survey

  4. Once you are done creating your survey, the system will take you to the Edit Survey tab where you can continue editing.

My Surveys- you can manage and access all your surveys in one place! 

This options allows you to create a new survey based upon an existing survey within your "My Surveys" personal account:

  1. Select CREATE from Copy and choose the survey you would like to copy

  2. Specify a new name, and the folder it belongs (optional)

  3. Finish by clicking Create From Copy

Folder management:

To access folders, click on the “My Surveys” tab and click on the “Manage Folders” link located above the survey list.
