Search Tips for Film and other Formats

On the library catalog search page, you can limit your search by designating what material you are searching for in the Material Type drop down box.  Below are some commom non-book formats:

Audiovisual (DVD, VHS)
Musical Score (printed music)
Periodical/Serial (magazines and journals)
Spoken Work Recording (speeches, radio shows, poety readings, etc.)

You can further refine a search for sound recordings by designating what material you are looking for (CDs, 33 rmp, cassette tapes, etc) in the Sound Recording drop down box.

To find materials about musicians, try a SUBJECT search of the individual's name (Last name, First name)

To find materials by musicians, try an AUTHOR search of the individual's name, or a TITLE search of an album title or a song title.
