Johnny Cash and Gospel Music

Born John R. Cash in Kingsland, Arkansas, Cash grew up listening to and singing Gospel music. Cash's mother was religious and took her children with her while she went to a local Baptist church. This religious upbringing and faith is evident in much of Cash's music.
