Johnny Cash: American Series

American Recordings

In the late 1990's, Johnny Cash joined with music producer Rick Rubin to record a set of American Recordings. The first in the series, American Recording was release in 1994. The last, American VI: Ain't no Grave, was released February 2010, nearly 7 years after Cash's death. The recordings feature a simple style, just Cash and the music. The recodings feature original Cash material plus some traditional songs and music covers. The song below, "Hurt" is a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song, and is one of the most powerful recordings in the series. The video for the song was nominated for six MTV music awards.
