If you are graduating, your library account will be deactivated on graduation day.
After this date, you may obtain a courtesy card for free as an alum. This will allow you to borrow BGSU books and request items through OhioLINK.
A courtesy card does not give you access to Interlibrary Loan (ILL) (interlibrary loan for articles and out-of-state borrowing) or let you log in to databases from off campus.
You can use most of our databases from the library's computers. Information Desk workers can log you in to the computers as a guest.
Locally
Get a public library card. Most are part of larger, regional networks, allowing you to request books and videos from beyond your local branch. A public library card will also allow you to log in to databases and use statewide online resources.
Bowling Green: Wood County Public Library
Toledo: Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. Includes nineteen branches, from Point Place in the northeast to Waterville in the southwest. Part of the Search Ohio network, which links a number of public library systems in Northern Ohio.
Nationally
WorldCat is the world's largest library catalog, containing over 1 billion records. It can be searched for free. Enter your zip code to display libraries near you that own a particular title. While some smaller public libraries' holdings are not included (including the Wood County Public Library), most North American libraries' collections are represented.
WorldCat also searches for articles in databases like JSTOR and ArticleFirst (though it does not contain full text). See the articles page for more information.
Interlibrary Loan
Most public libraries do participate in interlibrary loan, though obtaining a book from an out-of-state library or a copy of an article will most likely take longer using your public library ILL than it did when you were a student at BGSU. Many public libraries also charge a nominal fee to help defray borrowing costs. Call your local public library to ask about their policies. In Bowling Green, call or visit the Information Desk at the Wood County Public Library to make an out-of-network interlibrary loan request. The library will charge you $2.00 when you pick up the item.
