Music with Narration for Children

There are several well-known pieces with narration aimed and a youthful audience.  Do a title search on any of the titles below to find recordings and/or scores of each work.

Benjamin Britten
Young person's guide to the orchestra

Francis Poulenc
Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant [The Story of Babar, the Little Elephant]

Children's Literature

In the online catalog, do a subject search on one of the following terms, then click the "Limit & Sort Search" button and limit by material type to "Spoken Word Recording":

Children's stories
Children's poetry
Children's films -- Excerpts
Nonsense verses

The Curriculum Resource Center also has children's audiobooks that you can borrow.  To find these:

Do a keyword search on "audiobooks"
Limit by location to the Curriculum Resource Center
Limit by material to Spoken Word Recording.

Cartoons and Comics

While some cartoon- and comics-related music will come up in the children's literature searches, try also doing a title search on the title of the cartoon, then limiting by format.
