Histories and Documentaries

There are several approaches to using the online catalog to find histories and documentaries on record.

  1. Do a subject search on an event, historic figure, or topic, and narrow by material type to "Spoken Word Recording."
  2. Do an author search on an historical figure and narrow by material type to "Spoken Word Recording" to see if we have recordings of a particular person speaking; if this yields no results, try the same terms as a keyword search, then check the contents of each recording to see how relevant it is.
  3. Try one of the above searches adding the keywords "biography" or "autobiography" to narrow your search.
  4. Do a subject search on the word "news," and narrow by material type to "Spoken Word Recording."
  5. Try a keyword search on terms such as "reminiscence" or "correspondence," limiting by material type to "Spoken Word Recording."
