GSW 1100/1110: Intensive Introduction to Academic Writing/Introduction to Academic Writing: Publications - Intended Audience

The resources listed on this page will help you to become familiar with your University Libraries at BGSU. If you have questions about the Library, feel free to speak with a librarian in person at the Research and Information Desk.

Ask yourself the following

  • Who did the author write the work for?
    • The general population?
    • Other specialists in the field?

Search Tips

As we learned in the previous module, there are basically three types of publications. The audience is different for each:

Popular

  • written for the general public

Scholarly

  • written for scholars in the field

Trade

  •  written for professionals in a particular trade/field/industry
