About this Guide

This guide was created to help you identify country information sources for your short essays.  It contains various sources including books, government sites, databases, and videos.

Things to Consider

Do I know enough about my country to begin researching more in depth?

Who would publish the information I'm seeking?

  • Examples: The U.S. Government, International Government Bodies, Scholars (what field?)

How recent do I need materials to be given my country's political and social situations?

  • Have their been any major political, cultural, environmental events lately that impact what might count as a "current" source?

Are my sources reliable?

  • Who authored the information? Where was it published? Is it from an unbiased source?  Is it current?
