Newspaper Analysis

This Research Guide is designed to help you identify newspapers for the assignments in this class.

Please note that many of the newspaper collections owned by the University Libraries are available in microfilm or microfiche, and require you to visit the Libraries or Archives to use. The Archives are not open all the times the Libraries are; check the Archives hours here.

Four different assignments:

  • Newspapers from British colonies or US through 1799 (click on Pre -1800 tab above)

  • Newspapers from only 1860 (click on 1800s to 1900s above)

  • Newspapers from only 1920 (click on 1800s to 1900s or 20th century to present above)

  • Newspapers from the year of birth (click on 20th century to present above)
